OPM Experts LLC's CEO Signed by McGraw-Hill to Write OPM3 Book

September 2009 - OPM Experts LLC's CEO John Schlichter has been signed by McGraw-Hill to write the authoritative book on the Project Management Institute's Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3) Standard. McGraw-Hill is a top-tier publisher of professional management books, and Schlichter is the foremost authority in the content and application of the OPM3 Standard. The book will include case studies from organizations that have used OPM3.

Ann Lovejoy, the Practice Leader at Creative Intermedia LLC, is one of the contributors to the book and had the following to say: "John Schlichter is the editor of a book on implementing the PMI maturity model, OPM3, for a wide range of organizations. The OPM3 model describes a clear path to assure effectiveness, efficiency and value in organizations. I submitted an article to him. As an editor, John works with writers to clarify their thinking, brings out lessons learned to benefit all readers, and makes sure that innovative thinking -- needed to execute -- is not lost in translation. Process is always important. Frequently, awkwardness of project change is where the genius of project management and leadership happens. Too often, practitioners homogenize the truth to the point where readers can not tell what happened or how the work was done. John has a unique capability to encourage the writer to be courageous and truthful. When he makes an editorial suggestion -- he always adds value so that key points or synthesis of ideas are strengthened. He does this while always valuing the author's voice and style. At the same time, he keeps the focus on the main values of the underlying subject and the over-arching principles. Working with John is an opportunity to learn as well as to add signigicant value to any consulting or writing engagement you may be jointly doing.”

Jo Morrison, PMP, PCPM, is the PMO Manager for the Central Arizona Project. She worked with Schlichter to develop a case study for the book and had this to say: "I am amazed with John's magnitude of knowledge in PMI standards and OPM3. I have been working with him on his book, and the experience has been inspirational and educational. His 'out of the box' approaches to process measurement are brilliant, and have helped me implement process changes for Central Arizona Project (CAP). I volunteered to provide a case study for his book, but worried that it would be a time fiend and it would impact my work. To my amazement the experience has been wonderful. The phone meetings we have weekly have become transformational for CAP. The knowledge I am gaining will benefit the PMO that I lead. I would encourage anyone to collaborate with John or at least hire his services because it is worth it. The impact has been a positive one!”

Collaboration with Schlichter to develop a case study is available at no charge. Anyone interested in contributing to the book should contact OPM Experts LLC here.PMI's OPM3
